The price of the sheets versus a complete quotation
The cost of a trapezoidal steel sheet roof is more than the price of the sheets. A complete quotation should include the sheet area you buy, flashings, fixings, required roof layers, transport and installation. Compare offers for the same profile, steel thickness and coating, and distinguish gross sheet area from effective cover area. SteelProfil supplies trapezoidal steel sheets, flashings and sheets cut to length; confirm availability and lead times for the chosen option when ordering. The best purchase is a complete package suited to the design, rather than simply the lowest advertised price per square metre.
With your enquiry, include a dimensioned roof sketch, details of the structure and roof pitch, and the material specification required by the design. State the colour, delivery location and required date, or complete the enquiry form.
You can order trapezoidal steel sheets and flashings from SteelProfil and confirm stock and timing with your branch. Our dedicated article explains how to calculate materials for a simple roof slope.

What is the difference between gross area and effective cover area?
The overall width is the full width of the sheet. The effective cover width accounts for the way adjacent sheets overlap. Use the cover width to calculate the number of sheet runs, but check the quotation to see which area is used for pricing.
Do not calculate your purchase simply by multiplying the roof area by an advertised rate. First prepare a sheet schedule and establish the lengths. If sheets must be joined along the roof slope, include the end laps required by the manufacturer’s system.
Separate the cost of the sheets alone, the cost of the material package and the cost of the finished roof. These are three different figures.
Include the flashings required by the project, such as ridge caps, verge flashings and eaves components. Add the appropriate fixings and seals. Manufacturers supply these accessories to complement the covering; the correct selection depends on the particular system.
Check the other roof layers and components separately: insulation, membranes or other layers specified in the design, drainage and any work on the supporting structure. The contractor’s quotation should clearly define the installation work and, for a renovation, removal of the old covering.
This breakdown prevents you from comparing a sheets-only offer with one that also includes flashings and delivery.

Why do trapezoidal steel sheet prices vary so much?
Two offers described as trapezoidal steel roofing sheets may refer to different products. Price depends on the profile, material thickness, surface protection and finish, among other factors. Comparing prices without the specifications does not show which offer is better value.
First establish which material your building needs. Then ask each supplier to quote for the same specification: profile, steel thickness, coating, colour and grade.
Check the warranty for the chosen product, too. Coatings differ in their properties and protection conditions, so the same colour does not mean the same finish.
Compare specifications first, then prices. Otherwise, you may be comparing materials that are not interchangeable.
